CO2 Footprint

000 (tCO2e)
tCO2 = Tonnes of Carbon Dioxide Equivalent

How we do it
As an ethical and responsible travel company, we reduce our carbon footprint by designing trips that are low carbon impact and carefully calculating the impact with the help of an environmental consultancy. We then buy carbon credit equivalents to offset all emissions that cannot be reduced including those resulting from our day-to-day business operations. Our offsetting is done through an energy efficient stoves project in Kenya. On request, every traveller receives their own PDF offset certificate post-travel. Wild Guanabana is the first carbon-neutral travel company in the Middle East & North Africa. Note: We do not sell or issue flight tickets ourselves so consequently we don't offset those emissions.

What does offsetting mean anyway?
It's a way of reducing your ecological impact by 'neutralizing' the impact of your carbon footprint. Actions associated with travel amount to around a third of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. Carbon offsetting offers a solution to reduce the impact of your travel by purchasing carbon credits that are invested in activities that reduce CO2. While this doesn't erase all of the environmental impact, it does serve to help reinvest into the planet and contribute to activities which help its conversation. For more information on Carbon offsetting read more from our partners ERCC Carbon and our Sustainable Travel International.

Itinerary Details / Price Inclusions & Exclusions

  • Day 1 - : Arrival - (D)

Upon your arrival at Barcelona Airport, you will be picked up by a Wild Guanabana representative and transferred to your hotel in Vielha. Once you’ve checked-in, you will head to the main office for a briefing and meet and greet with your guide.

  • Day 2: Trekking Salenques Valley (B,L,D)

Our experience begins by trekking the central massif of the Pyrenees, in the Salenques Valley. This route follows the river with the same name, followed by a forest filled with beautiful beech trees. Along the way we will be able to see amazing waterfalls. We will reach the Llauset mountain hut, one of the most modern refugees in the Pyrenees, since its opening.

  • Day 3 - Peak 1 (Culebras at 3051m) and Peak 2 (Vallibierna at 3067m) (B,L,D)

Our first great climb will be the Tuc de Culebras, and with the help of a rope we will pass the peak of Vallibierna, making this day one of the most amazing ones with two great peaks. From here, we will head down to the Coronas mountain hut where a private transfer will be waiting to take us to the “Chamonix” of the Spanish Pyrenees, a small charming town called Benasque, where we will spend the night.

  • Day 4 - Peak 3 (Posets at 3375m) (B,L,D)

Today we will hike our way to the town of Eriste, where we will have the opportunity to start one of the most emblematic routes of the Pyrenees. We will spend the night at the Angel Orus refugee, but before getting there we will ascend the peak El Posets (3375m).

  • Day 5 - Rest Day (B,L,D)

On this day we will not reach any summit, we will head north-east from the refugee and throughout the day we will see lots of beautiful mountain lakes, hiking to our next stop: Estos Mountain Hut, where we will be spending the night.

  • Day 6 - Peak 4 (Perdiguero at 3218m) (B,L,D)

Our last day on the most emblematic route of the Pyrenees, and to finish this route, we will head to the summit of one of the biggest massifs of the Pyrenees, the Perdiguero peak (3218 m) and spend the night in Benasque.

  • Day 7 - Benasque Natural Park (B,L,D)

Today will be a more relaxed and chilled day where we can walk and visit the Benasque Natural Park and learn a little bit of its history before heading up to the Renclusa Mountain hut where we will be spending the night.

  • Day 8 - Peak 5 (Aneto at 3404 m) - (B,L)

Aneto, one of the most well known peaks of the Spanish Pyrenees, it still has one of the few glaciers left in the peninsula. The climb can be a little demanding, but everyone who reaches the summit of this great mountain can say he/she is an experienced Pyrenees hiker. After reaching the summit, we will head down to Renclusa Mountain hut to spend the night.

  • Day 9 - Departure - (B)
