Hossam Abo Zeid
I just came back from my second trip with WG, and again, I was impressed! My first and second experiences were both beyond awesome, and indeed, Life-Changing. Thank you WG for a second successful and adventure-filled trip!
This was the ultimate experience I've had in quite sometime! the trip was full of unforgettable moments and WG's team were really on top of the experience, without them it wouldn't have been as exciting, challenging and fulfilling as it was.
A mix of biking, hiking & camping. The team was wild, really supportive & the gear was great. They helped us enjoy every minute. I didn't only learn about camping & exploring the desert, I also learned a lot about me. It expanded my options in life.

How we do it
As an ethical and responsible travel company, we reduce our carbon footprint by designing trips that are low carbon impact and carefully calculating the impact with the help of an environmental consultancy. We then buy carbon credit equivalents to offset all emissions that cannot be reduced including those resulting from our day-to-day business operations. Our offsetting is done through an energy efficient stoves project in Kenya. On request, every traveller receives their own PDF offset certificate post-travel. Wild Guanabana is the first carbon-neutral travel company in the Middle East & North Africa. Note: We do not sell or issue flight tickets ourselves so consequently we don't offset those emissions.
What does offsetting mean anyway?
It's a way of reducing your ecological impact by 'neutralizing' the impact of your carbon footprint. Actions associated with travel amount to around a third of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. Carbon offsetting offers a solution to reduce the impact of your travel by purchasing carbon credits that are invested in activities that reduce CO2. While this doesn't erase all of the environmental impact, it does serve to help reinvest into the planet and contribute to activities which help its conversation. For more information on Carbon offsetting read more from our partners ERCC Carbon and our Sustainable Travel International.

Itinerary Details / Price Inclusions & Exclusions
Day 1: Arrival in Zaafarana (L/D):
Today, we’ll meet at the Wild Guanabana Headquarter and take a 260 km bus ride to the Monastery of St. Anthony located in Zaafarana. We will explore the place and get to know more about its history. You’ll go through a brief safety outline before beginning a brisk 20 km of off road biking through easy terrain with moderate elevation that varies from 500 m to 1000 meters above sea level, a hard challenge for the first day to enjoy a smooth downhill the second two days! It’ll take approximately 5 hours during which we’ll have 3 stops or breaks. In the end, you’ll reach the top view of the Gelala Southern Mountains from which we can have a panoramic view to the area. We recommend you sleep early on the first night. Tonight, the campsite will be set up by our guides, but observe them well because you’ll be setting it up tomorrow.
Day 2: Into the Mountains (B/L/D):
Following breakfast, we’ll head towards the cliff where you will have to push the bike downhill for a very small distance until you will be able to cycle again, since the obstacle is considered technically difficult. You’ll begin a 20 km off-road biking downhill. It’s extremely fun, but it’s also quite a challenge to keep your focus on the road and to not hit the rocks! A brief break will be offered before the downhill to make sure that the group is prepared. The ride ends at your campsite for the second night, where you’ll have to prepare your tents and a campfire. Get ready to cook some delicious pasta for tonight’s dinner. Later on, we’ll play Mafia!
Day 3: Last Leg & Homebound (B/L):
After a good 8-9 hours of sleep and a hearty breakfast, you’ll start the last 10 km leg of our journey. You’ll end this ride at the Monastery of St. Paul, where you will tour the grounds, have lunch and begin the bus ride back to Cairo, a 260 km bus ride.
Guidelines and Emergency:
2 years of biking experience and the ability to run for 5 Km is required. You are here to enjoy the nature, not to harm it. Please take nothing but pictures, and leave nothing but your awesome vibe. Our WG journeys are tracked, the group’s movement is lively updated to our headquarters; and we will always take the move in time in case of any emergency. If you need to call your family at any point when we are off the grid; the minute over our satellite connection is for 20 EGP.
-All the adventurers participating in our journeys have to follow our WG leader. While on the bike, you must put on the helmet and the protective gear. Always try as much as you can to walk in pairs. Never put your hand in a bush, or try to move the rocks; reptiles love these places. Try to always stay close to the group so that you can avoid getting lost. Never panic, our WG leader is well experienced to handle the situation. Always stay close to the group and to our WG leader. Always inform any of your group mates if nature calls.
