Alaska has long fascinated us with its unspoilt natural landscapes, geographical remoteness, arctic climate, indigenous Eskimo people and rugged snowy mountain peaks.
Alaska
Alaska was actually bought by the United States from Russia in 1867. For us, Alaska is all about Mt. Denali with the first attempt to climb the mountain in 1903. Funnily enough, the first people to successfully climb Denali did so on a bet.
History
Inhabited for over 10,000 years and was once connected to Siberia via a landbridge. Centuries later sold by Russia to the United States for $7.2 million dollars, thought at the time to be a bad deal, Alaska turned out to be rich in natural resources.
Culture
Alaska has a mixture of English, Russian, Spanish and French place names that reflect the early exploration done in the area by European countries. It is also a mixture of 11 native culture groups and 20 indigenous languages.
Attractions
Being in the northernmost part of the Continental America, Alaska is famous for its arctic and sub-arctic wildlife such as the Black, Brown and Polar Bears, Caribou, Moose, Orcas, Blue and Humpback Whales and the most famous Bald Eagle. Consisting mainly of untouched wilderness, It’s home to magnificent mountains, glaciers, and fjords .
What We Do
Climb the isolated peak of Mount Denali. It is the highest in Alaska, the U.S and all of North America.
