Who is this for

Although, most of the route is non-technical climbing, this trip is not for the faint hearted. If you are physically fit and have plenty of mountain experience at different levels, this is a real mountain expedition and not for everyone.

What’s next

If you have successfully climbed Mt. Nun you have joined our select group of mountaineers. You have attained the experience needed with technical skills, altitude and most importantly expedition experience.

Transfer to hotel. IMF Briefing. O/N
Transfer to hotel and rest for acclimatization.
At leisure in Leh for acclimatisation .
visit Warila pass ( 5250m)
6hrs. O/N Camp
Begin trek to base of Sniugutsela. (4500m). – 4 ½ hrs.
We walk through a narrow gorge with sharp jagged rocks and climb steeply to the top of Sniugutsela ( 5100m). Great views of the Zanskar range of mountain. Climb to the base of Unname pass ( 4767m) - 6 to 7hrs.
Climb steeply on a not too well defined path to the top of Unname pass at 5390m. Descend to camp in a nice spot near a spring and continue to High camp at 5300m – 5 ½ hrs.
Early start at 3 am for the summit Using crampons and roped up, we climb passing crevasses to the summit. It’s a long walk to the top where you are rewarded with excellent views of the Kun Massif and the Karakoram range. Return to High camp and descend further to lower base camp at 4850m. – 9 / 10hrs.
Descend to the scenic village of Kanji ( 3850m)- 6 hrs.
end of road head ( 5 hrs) . O/n Camp
5 hrs. ( Sherpas would have gone on to fix rope to Camp 1 on Ice fall)
Begin up a morriane and scree slope for about an hour to the glacier. Cross the ice fall about 200m on fixed rope and then walk up the glacier flat to Camp .
Load Ferry to Camp 1( 5600m) – 5/6 hrs.
Load Ferry to Camp I
Load ferry (6110 mts) 4/5 hrs,
Establish Camp II
Its an easier walk today as you travel the flat snowy plateau climbing gradually to Camp III with excellent views around.
Establish Camp III
Leaving very early before the first light, we climb gradually for about an hour from camp. From here we fix approximately 800m of fixed rope and climb steeply. The route to the summit is more technical as we traverse crevasses and climb through narrow overhanging ice falls. We then reach the left ridge of the peak we continue , roped up for safety to the summit which takes about 2 ½ to 3 hrs. Return to Camp II.

Terrain

To arrive to base camp, we will be hiking on well trodden trails on rocky, grassy, and snowy terrain of varying steepness. Our high altitude porters will be carrying all the equipment up until base camp. From there, we will be traversing glaciated terrain and steep snow to equip the higher camps to the summit. Expect to carry your own loads and prepare your own tents higher up on the mountain as this is a true Himalayan expedition.

Weather

Nice and warm during the day, cold during the night with occasional overcast days during the trek. On the mountain, we will be experiencing temperatures from 20C to -25C, so be prepared.

Food

Food will include Noodles, Soups, Mashed Potatoes, Porridge, Lentils, Curries and Cheese. There will also be different hot drinks like tea and coffee.

No experiences is needed: Anyone can join this trip.
Minimal experience: You should probably have some hiking experience to join this trip. It is advisable to have gone on a hike for at least 2 days prior to joining this trip.
Moderate experience: You should have some climbing experience to join this trip. It is advisable to have been on at least a 4-day climb before joining this trip.
Technical experience: You should have technical climbing experience before joining this trip. It is recommended that you have experience with crampons, skis, ropes and belays.
Advanced technical experience: You should have technical climbing experience to join this trip. Depending on the climb, you will need a specific set of skills.
