Why take this trip

Beyond the 7 summits, there are thousands of beautiful mountains that are worth climbing. 50 meters higher than Mont Blanc and slightly more complicated, this expedition is an alpinist’s dream come true. Our route starts from the village of Adishi and reaches the summit via the south west ridge at PD+. We will establish 2 to 3 camps to allow ourselves plenty of time to acclimatize properly before our summit push. Travelling between camps, we will overcome glaciers, crevasses, and steep snow couloirs. From camp 3, we will negotiate the knife edge ridge to the summit and gain unparalleled views of Mt. Elbrus, Ushba, and the entire Georgian range.

Who is this for

This expedition is for those of you who are interested in the full experience of climbing in a remote region of the world. The Georgian mountains are famous amongst alpinists for having some of the last remaining untouched mountain faces and valleys in the world. The region sees little to no tourists beyond the villages which keeps the environment isolated and pristine as it once as thousands of years ago.

Terrain

Standard hiking trails take us from Adishi to our base camp. We expect to travel over scree slopes, well trodden paths and grass fields. On the mountain, we will travel roped up on glaciated and icy terrain.

Weather

The weather in Svaneti is as unpredictable as in the alps. Planning our departure dates accurately and allowing buffer days for bad weather is the best strategy for a higher chance of summiting, but expect to see a day or two of bad weather. From Adishi, days will be warm and sunny 10-20C, nights cold and dry at 0-5C. These are average temperatures and in the event of a bad weather day we will could be facing rain, snow, and wind.
