Why take this trip:

Alpamayo wasn’t mapped until the 1940’s due to being the most remote peak of the range. It is not the difficulty that has attracted climbers from around the globe but its the magnificent setting amongst the everlasting snow caps of the Cordillera Blanca in the Peruvian Andes.

image

Who is this for:

This climb is for the adventurous climber with experience on snow and ice up to French grade AD+. Alpamayo has many routes to the summit, with the most commonly used being the French Direct (D+). Our very own chief, Omar Samra, climbed Alpamayo through this route and has vouched for the immense beauty of the mountain.

Terrain

We will encounter rocky terrain, glacier morain, and some snow travel on the hike in to base camp. From base camp, the terrain will get significantly trickier until our morain camp before the summit push.

image

Weather

We will have generally dry and cold weather, and due to the proximity of the mountain to the equator there will be little moisture in the air than in other settings around the world. Temperatures can vary between 20 to -20 Deg and the weather can turn sour in a very short span of time. Prepare accordingly.

Food

Peruvian cuisine is some of the most delicious in the world and is a major attraction during this expedition. During the hike in, we will be eating simple but nutritious food that will provide us with more than enough energy to complete each day’s plan.
